What is the antisynthetase syndrome?

The antisynthetase syndrome is seen in both polymyositis and dermatomyositis patients and is associated with the anti–Jo-1 antibody, in addition to anti-PL7, -PL12, -OJ, and -EJ autoantibodies. In addition to skin and muscle involvement, patients may develop arthritis, Raynaud’s syndrome, and interstitial lung disease.
