Is generalized pruritus a common symptom of endocrine disorders? Generalized pruritus occurs in 4% to 11% of patients with thyrotoxicosis and occurs more commonly in patients with long-standing disease. No recent publications on the incidence of pruritus in patients with diabetes mellitus exist. Notwithstanding, patients are more likely to experience pruritus vulvae and pruritus ani secondary to candidiasis, dermatophyte infection, and bacterial infection. |
