Are multiple dermatofibromas associated with any internal diseases?

Multiple dermatofibromas have been associated with an altered immune status, with the most common cause being systemic lupus erythematosus and, less commonly, myasthenia gravis and malignancies. These associations are rare and only seen in patients with more than six dermatofibromas; patients presenting with isolated dermatofibromas should not be routinely evaluated for these conditions.
