What is melanoma?

Cutaneous melanoma is a malignant tumor of skin melanocytes. It is differentiated from ocular melanoma, a malignancy of ocular pigment cells. Less common sites of primary melanoma occur in the brain, oral mucosa, nasopharyngeal area, and anal area.
