What other findings should be reported in the histopathologic diagnosis of melanoma? The World Health Organization, as well as the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC), recommends reporting the following when reporting on the histologic diagnosis of melanoma: thickness (Breslow depth), mitoses/mm2, level of invasion (Clark’s level), regression, tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, ulceration, vascular invasion, microscopic satellites, associated nevus, and margins. Because the most recent AJCC staging system for melanoma has deleted the Clark’s level, many pathologists and dermatopathologists no longer include this finding in their reports.
