How does pregnancy affect patients with melanoma? Melanoma accounts for 8% of malignancies in pregnancy. Pregnancy is no longer thought to worsen the prognosis of melanoma, and the survival rates for similarly staged pregnant and nonpregnant individuals are not statistically significant.
