Where is penicilliosis endemic? Penicilliosis is endemic in southeast Asia and southern China, although there have been a few case reports in other Asian countries. The increase in HIV-infected individuals in these areas has led to the emergence of this organism as a cause of infection. Bamboo rats may serve as a reservoir.
