Define opportunistic infection.

Opportunistic infections are caused by organisms that typically produce disease in a host with lowered resistance. Many opportunistic infections involve the skin. The four discussed in this chapter are cryptococcosis, aspergillosis, fusariosis, and mucormycosis.
