Are there more dangerous fungal infections associated with diabetes?

Rarely, mucormycosis will complicate diabetic ketoacidosis. Mucormycosis is a severe and progressive infection of the soft tissues caused by saprophytic fungi such as Mucor, Rhizopus, and Absidia species. This infection is poorly responsive to systemic antifungals and is often fatal.
